PhD and Postdoc Positions available
The research focusses on high-strain loading of concrete and composite materials due to impact and blast applications. The student/fellow should have strong analytical skills and interest to pursue experimental work. Student would be expected to work on gas gun and shock tubes available with the research group. Desired skills in one or more of the following would be advantageous: Finite Element Methods, Experimental measurements, Programming (Matlab, LabVIEW etc).
Interested students may send their CV to my email id.

Our work on influence on fluid-structure-interaction (FSI) on blast response of SDOF systems has been published to ASCE Journal of Structural Engineering. This paper proposes a new model and provides methodology to include FSI in simplified methods of analysis. link.
We have published a paper assessing effect of damping modeling decision on in-structure response of base-isolated structures, especially relevant to nuclear structures. The strategies proposed so far focuses on addressing issues with moment frame structures. These damping solutions don't work for non-frame type structures and for acceleration response. This paper addresses those issues. link.
